RVA Street Bunny Society
Saving Bunnies in Central VA Since 2024
RVA Street Bunny Society is a volunteer-led organization whose mission is to recover abandoned domestic rabbits in Central VA, providing veterinary care, safe placement in foster and adoptive homes, and community education.
I found a domestic bunny outside.
What should I do?
Call animal control for the county where the bunny is located and stay at the location until an animal control officer arrives if possible.
Text or email us the address where the bunny was found, the date and time they were seen, the number of bunnies and their fur colors, and photos of the bunnies and the surrounding area.
Phone: (804) 592-6519
Email: rvaanimalhelp@gmail.comIf animal control is unable to help and our team is unavailable, we can provide instructions for safely securing the bunny. Once the bunny is safe, we can provide advice for what to do next depending on the animal control laws for the county where the bunny was rescued.
Thank you for your compassion! 🐇💗 Domestic bunnies cannot survive outside, so it’s up to us to help them.

Anya, Darya, & Nina
Anya, Darya, and Nina were rescued along with two male bunnies after they had been neglected outside in a backyard where they were being fed chicken feed and living with dogs. Shortly after we rescued them, we realized they're a bonded trio! They feel safer and more comfortable being together, especially after all they have been through, so now they'll never be apart.
These three girls are spayed and microchipped. They are becoming more comfortable in their foster home everyday. They've even been doing binkies and splooting; clear signs that they feel safe and comfortable. Nina and Anya are Mini Rex adult bunnies, and Darya is a Rex-mix senior bunny. We believe Darya is the mother of Nina and Anya, because she's protective over them!
Consider opening your heart and home to these three girls who deserve the world. -
Lily & Poppy
Lily and Poppy were dumped in a residential neighborhood in August 2024. A kind neighbor was able to catch Lily and bring her into her house, and called us for help rescuing Poppy from her back deck.
Both girls are now spayed and fully vaccinated. They are both so sweet and social, and will climb into your lap to be petted and demand treats. Lily shakes her booty in happiness when she gets snacks. Their playful antics bring endless laugher and smiles. These tiny girls are Dutch and Netherland Dwarf mixes, around 3lbs each, and are fully grown will stay small for life. -
Yeti
Yeti is a neutered adult male bunny who is super confident and loves to explore! He is looking for a foster or adoptive home. He was recently neutered, so he's still working on learning to use the litter box as his hormones settle. Yeti would be a good bonding candidate for another neutered or spayed bunny!
Yeti was rescued in Richmond in December 2024 with another bunny after they were abandoned. We can't wait for him to find his family! Could it be you? -
Petra
Petra (aka "Petra Cottontail") is spayed, microchipped, and looking for her family! Petra loves being petted and does amazing with her litter box! She's an athletic bunny who needs plenty of space to do her zoomies and binkies. Petra would likely do well bonding with another bunny since she has been in the company of other bunnies before!
While she may look like a cottontail, Petra is a domestic bunny who was rescued in Portsmouth in January 2025 with several other bunnies. They were abandoned by a resident who had allegedly been breeding them for meat. Consider welcoming Petra into your family!
