RVA Street Bunny Society
Saving Bunnies in Central VA Since 2024
RVA Street Bunny Society is a volunteer-led organization whose mission is to recover abandoned domestic rabbits in Central VA, providing veterinary care, safe placement in foster and adoptive homes, and community education.
I found a domestic bunny outside.
What should I do?
Call animal control for the county where the bunny is located and stay at the location until an animal control officer arrives if possible.
Text or email us the address where the bunny was found, the date and time they were seen, the number of bunnies and their fur colors, and photos of the bunnies and the surrounding area.
Phone: (804) 592-6519
Email: rvaanimalhelp@gmail.comIf animal control is unable to help and our team is unavailable, we can provide instructions for safely securing the bunny. Once the bunny is safe, we can provide advice for what to do next depending on the animal control laws for the county where the bunny was rescued.
Thank you for your compassion! 🐇💗 Domestic bunnies cannot survive outside, so it’s up to us to help them.

Anya, Darya, & Nina
Anya, Darya, and Nina were rescued along with two male bunnies after they had been neglected outside in a backyard where they were being fed chicken feed and living with dogs. Shortly after we rescued them, we realized they're a bonded trio! They feel safer and more comfortable being together, especially after all they have been through, so now they'll never be apart.
These three girls are spayed and microchipped. They are becoming more comfortable in their foster home everyday. They've even been doing binkies and splooting; clear signs that they feel safe and comfortable. Nina and Anya are Mini Rex adult bunnies, and Darya is a Rex-mix senior bunny. We believe Darya is the mother of Nina and Anya, because she's protective over them!
Consider opening your heart and home to these three girls who deserve the world. -
Snowball
Snowball is a spayed and litter box trained bunny who loves to be petted and will even hop into her foster's lap for attention! She also enjoys exploring her environment, so plenty of free roam time or living in a 24/7 free-roam home would make her very happy!
Snowball was rescued in Midlothian with nine other bunnies after they were abandoned outside when a family who had been killing bunnies for meat decided to stop. This precious girl can't wait to find her family and would be a great bonding candidate for another spayed or neutered bunny -
Blackberry
Blackberry is a spayed adult female bunny who starts off shy, but once she warms up, she loves to be petted and enjoys plenty of free roam time! She was rescued by good Samaritans in Roanoke, VA in October 2024. Blackberry was dumped outside and left to fend for herself with several other bunnies. She's a huge fan of fresh veggies, and even more so would enjoy finding a family to love her. Blackberry prefers the company of men and needs a patient and experienced adopter. Consider applying to adopt Blackberry!

Layla
Layla is spayed, microchipped, and looking for her family! Layla loves being petted and does amazing with her litterbox! She's an athletic bunny who needs plenty of space to do her zoomies and binkies. Layla would likely do well bonding with another bunny since she has been in the company of other bunnies before!
While she may look like a cottontail, Layla is a domestic bunny who was rescued in Portsmouth in January 2025 with several other bunnies. They were abandoned by a resident who had allegedly been breeding them for meat. Consider welcoming Layla into your family!
